Dakri Foods 25 overs KO Cup 2008.
Congratulations to East London 1 for becoming The Dakri Foods 25 overs KO Cup Champions 2008
East London 1 were put into bat and were looking in deep trouble as the top order batsman were blown away by the bowling attack of Kothi 1.
East London 1 were precariously hanging on at 36 for 6 and were staring at defeat but Sabir Ali and Yasir Ahmed developed an amazing partnership that bought East London back into the game. Once they perished Sadiq Mohmed and Bilal Makodia continued with some clean hitting taking East London to a commanding position of 172 for 8 in their allotted overs. Sabir Ali taking the man-of-the-match award and deservedly so. Rumour has it that this year there will be a man of the tournament trophy given - Don't be surprised if that ends up being Sabir too - impressive throughout including a five wicket haul earlier in the tournament.
In reply, Kothi 1 never really got going and with the bowling attack that East London have combined with their agile fielding, there was only one winner. Kothi eventually being bowled out for 81.
East London have now won this tournament 5 times and appeared in the most finals since it's induction.
The GMCL would like to thank our sponsor, Dakri Foods, Mr Yusuf Dakri who took the time out from his commitments to enjoy the brand of good, strong and fair cricket.
